Deer Hunting

Deer are hoofed ruminant mammals, widely spread in Eurasia, North and South America. In Africa they inhabit only the northern coast. Deer have also been introduced to Australia and New Zealand as a perfect game animal. Various species of deer inhabit all kinds of climatic zones and landscapes: deserts, steppes, mountains, forests and arctic tundra. They are very different in their body size: some species are no bigger than a hare, while others are almost as high at the shoulders as a horse. Most of the species have large branched antlers that are shed each year. The heavy antlers of an old male are a desired trophy and incarnate the power and beauty of the deer.

“The emotions that good hunters need to cultivate are love and service more than courage. The sentiments of the hunt then become translated into art”. Swan J.

The deer hunt is a thrilling and adventurous experience. Self possession, patience and insistence are a must. The gorgeous trophy and delicate meat will become your prize. There are many ways to hunt deer. One of most exciting methods is hunting by calling, mimicking the voice of a rival or the female. The success rate is very high in fall, during the rut season. Later on in the winter season the hunt is usually organized by spot and stalk. Besides that, different species of deer are hunted from the high seat or by driven hunting.
