Deer Hunting
Deer are hoofed ruminant mammals, widely spread in Eurasia, North and South America. In Africa they inhabit only the northern coast. Deer have also been introduced to Australia and New Zealand as a perfect game animal. Various species of deer inhabit all kinds of climatic zones and landscapes: deserts, steppes, mountains, forests and arctic tundra. They are very different in their body size: some species are no bigger than a hare, while others are almost as high at the shoulders as a horse. Most of the species have large branched antlers that are shed each year. The heavy antlers of an old male are a desired trophy and incarnate the power and beauty of the deer.
