Hunting in Greece

Greece is an amazing country located on the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea on the borders between Africa, Asia and Europe.
Bears, wolves, foxes, deer and lynx inhabit mountainous regions of the country, particularly the forests. Fauna of Greece is quite rich but most of the wild game is under protection.
The main interest of the world hunters belongs to rare species inhabiting mountainous areas of the Crete Island, namely Kri-kri Ibex and Hybrid Kri-Kri Ibex.

SEASON

The hunting season in Greece starts from the last week of October, lasts for entire month of November and ends after the first week of December.

ROUTE

Day 1

Arrival to Athens, transfer to the hunting area (around 3.5-5 hours). Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 2-5

4-day hunt for the Kr-Kri Ibex

Day 6-7

2-day hunt for the Hybrid Kri-Kri Ibex

Day 8

Transfer back to Athens, flight back home

HUNTING

Hunt in the mountains of Greece is mainly spot-and-stalk. Mountains are comfortable for trekking, with medium level of physical exercise. While hunting in Greece, you can use only shotgun that you can rent from us.

ACCOMMODATION

While hunting in Greece, hunters are accommodated in small hotels-villas, located in the towns next to the hunting grounds. It is also possible to stay in village guesthouses or small hotels.

AREA

The hunt for Hybrid Kri-Kri Ibex is organized on several islands of the North Aegean string that is in 5 hours distance to the North from Athens.
Kri-Kri Ibex we hunt on Sapienza Island, located within a 45-minute boat trip from Methoni (4 hours distance from Athens).
Atalanti Island is another hunting area that is located in 3 hours distance to the North from Athens. This region allows 1-day hunts on Fridays.

Do I need a visa to Greece?

Citizens of many countries do not need a visa. The list includes many European countries, USA and Canada. Please kindly check if your country is on the list or send us a request.
Why do you hunt Kri-kri Ibex only on two islands?

Kri-Kri Ibex easily interbreeds with domestic and feral goats, producing hybrids which are not pure Kri-Kri. That is why we organize hunting only on several Greek islands with pure populations.
What is the average shooting distance for the Kri-Kri hunt?

If the hunter is able to walk quietly, then it is possible to approach animals at 20-60 meters/yards.
Can I bring my own hunting gun?

No, it is not allowed. You can hunt only using a shotgun rented from the local outfitter. Hunting with rifled firearms is prohibited.
Is bowhunting allowed in Greece?

No, at the moment it is not legal to hunt with bows and arrows.
