African wild cat Hunting

Felis silvestris lybica
Distribution: Throughout Africa except for rain forest and true desert. The African wildcat is also found in the Sinai peninsula, Jordan, Israel, Syria, Iraq and the rest of the Arabian peninsula.


Description: A rather small and lightweight cat with long legs. Weight around 5-11 pounds (2.3-5 kg). The coat is short with highly variable coloration, usually marked with faint “tabby” stripes and spots.
CITES: Appendix II. Only an export permit is required. These species do not require an import permit (only in some countries that have adopted more strict rules).
