Botswana is situated in Southern Africa. One of the least dense populations in the world provides for the wildlife to thrive. Botswana is endowed with a great variety of wild game. For many years, it is known as one of the best destinations for the dangerous game hunting, including elephants, lions and leopards. The picturesque Kalahari stretches and the vast Okavango delta are also home to a wide variety of plains game.
The hunting season in Botswana lasts from April till November. Hunting at the farms is available all year round. The recommended season for the elephant hunt is August - November, also the beginning of June and September in some blocks.
ROUTE
The flights from the main African cities arrive to Botswana daily. For example, you can choose Johannesburg, Windhoek or Nairobi as a stopover point. The ground transfer to the hunting area from the airport takes around 1.5 – 4 hours, depending on the block chosen for the hunt. Charter flights are available for your convenience.
HUNTING
As a rule, the 4x4 vehicle is used for transportation around the hunting area. Once located, the trophy animal is stalked on foot. The lay of the land is flat, making the hunt easier. The PH and a group of trekkers accompany each hunter. During the elephant hunt, you need to go trekking for 3-6 miles (6-10 kilometers) daily, sometimes up to 9-12 miles (15-20 kilometers.) Hunting with dogs is available if you want to bag a leopard.
ACCOMMODATION
The hunting camps usually consist of 2-4 large comfortable tents with all necessary amenities. Hot shower and flush toilet are available. There is also an outside deck for socializing and resting. It is often located on the riverbank and allows enjoying the wildlife of Botswana.
