Distribution: Native to Asian mainland and Sri Lanka. Introduced in Australia and England, also North and South Americas.
Description: Roughly the size of a big dog. Comparatively short legs and face. This appearance together with its characteristic of rushing through grass with its head down, is the basis of its common name.
CITES: Appendix I (Protected Species). Requires import and export permits.
