East African Bush Duiker Hunting

Sylvicapra grimmia abyssinicus

Distribution: Includes abyssinicus (Ethiopia), altivallis (higher parts of the Aberdares and Mt. Kenya), deserti (eastern and northeastern Kenya, southern Somalia), lobeliarum (higher parts of Mt. Elgon).

Description: The East African bush duiker includes a number of local races from considerably different habitats and climates, so there is a good deal of variation in color. Usually it is reddish-brown in color and has a moderate size. Both sexes reach 17–19 inches (44–49 cm) at the shoulder and have a pair of spiky horns, measuring 2-3 inches (5–8 cm).
