Distribution: Reserves and private ranches in South Africa and Namibia; reintroduced in parts of Zimbabwe; now being introduced in other countries.
Description: The white rhinoceros is the largest of the five living species of rhinoceros. Shoulder height is 5-6 feet (170 to 186 cm), weight averages about 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg). The front horn is larger and averages about 24 inches (60 cm) in length.
CITES: Appendix II. Only an export permit is required. These species do not require an import permit (only in some countries that have adopted more strict rules).
