Introduction

Macedonia is a country located in the central Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. It is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, from which it declared independence in 1991. A landlocked country, the Republic of Macedonia is bordered by Kosovo to the northwest, Serbia to the north, Bulgaria to the east, Greece to the south and Albania to the west.

This is a small country where the sun always shines, in the scenic heart of Balkans. It has more than 50 lakes and sixteen dramatic mountains higher than 2000 m (6562 ft). Beauty and culture blend here to create unique experience for you. Macedonians know how to make their guests feel at home offering you their traditional hospitality, savory cuisine, and great music and dance traditions. Macedonia has a rich cultural heritage in art, architecture, poetry, and music. It has many ancient, protected religious sites. Poetry, cinema, and music festivals are held annually.

Macedonia has a transitional climate from Mediterranean to continental. The summers are hot and dry and the winters are moderately cold and wet. The mountainous climate is present in the mountainous regions of the country and it is characterized by long and snowy winters and short and cold summers.

It is here in this still unspoiled country where you can experience great hunt for Balkan Chamois, Kri Kri Ibex, Mouflon and Deer. Tourist visa is not required for citizens of USA, Canada and most European countries.

Hunting season

Balkan Chamois, Kri Kri Ibex: September 01 – November 31
Mouflon: all year round

Trophy

Balkan Chamois

Balkan Chamois

Somewhat larger than Alpine Chamois, with longer horns. In winter its fur is dark brown, almost black, while in the summer its color becomes lighter. There are dark bands on the head extending from the horns to the nostrils. Both sexes have horns of almost the same size, which stand upright and turn back, like hooks.

Kri Kri Ibex

Kri Kri Ibex

Cretensis Ibex, known as Kri Kri Ibex is a handsome, relatively slender animal with blackish-brown markings that contrast with the lighter overall color. Summer coat is reddish-brown, turning ashy gray in winter in adult males. Underparts and back of legs are white. The dark blackish areas include a dorsal stripe, shoulder stripes, flank stripes, front of legs, chest, tail, throat, face and beard. Callouses develop on the knees and sometimes on the chest. Males are characterized by large, scimitar-shaped, laterally compressed horns. The front edge is a sharp keel with a number of bold, sharp-edged, widely separated knobs. The female has short, slender horns and no beard; it is colored brownish-tan at all seasons, with a dark stripe from eye to muzzle.

Mouflon

Mouflon

Shoulder height 26-30 inches (66-76 cm). Weight 70-100 pounds (32-45 kg). One of the world’s smallest wild sheep, resembling a slim domestic sheep except that it has a normal coat of hair, any wool being concealed beneath. Upper parts are reddish-brown with a pale (almost white) saddle patch in the winter coat. Underparts, rump, lower legs and muzzle are white. There is dark neck ruff but no bib. The horns usually grow in a tight circle, with the tips turned inward toward the face and broomed back to about a three-quarter curl. In a purebred European mouflon, the tip-to-tip spread should not be the widest spread.
Mouflon, especially an old male with large horns, is a fine game animal that is difficult to hunt. It is the only sheep that is mainly nocturnal and lives in thick cover.
